Marshall C. Jones Jr., affectionately known as Poppy, departed from this world on December 1, 2023, at the age of 83 surrounded by family and loved ones.
Marshall was born to Marshall C. Jones Sr. and Nellie Louise Jones in Chillicothe, OH on March 24, 1940. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1959. His family later migrated to Rochester NY, in 1964, where he started a family and a career at General Motors. Marshall married Mary Alice in 1968.He had four children Deana, Marshall Conway, III, Shelby and Alice. He lived a life full of purpose and meaning. He was a pillar of strength for his family, providing unwavering support, guidance, and boundless love. Marshall's journey through life was marked by resilience, kindness, and a remarkable sense of humor that could light up any room. His award-winning dance moves left many in awe.
As a father, He was not just a parent but a source of inspiration and wisdom. He instilled values of compassion, integrity, and hard work in his children. Marshall's role as a grandfather was a joyous chapter in his life. He reveled in family gatherings and created moments of joy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those he leaves behind. He was blessed with the joy of witnessing the arrival of five great-grandchildren, further expanding the circle of love that defined his life.
Marshall was preceded in death by his loving parents, Marshall and Nellie Jones, siblings Wayne Jones and Carl Jones and spouse, Mary Alice Jones.
He is survived by his brother John (Barbara) Jones, sisters-in-law Marie Jones and Louise Curry, his four children Deana (Harold) Moore, Marshall (Danica) Jones III, Shelby (Andre) Daniel, and Alice (Claude) Davis. His 17 grandchildren Chonte Jones, Marshall Conway Jones IV, Candis Davis, Nina Moore, Kyle Moore, Jaquan Cody Jones, Lexus Davis, Coby Moore, Megan Moore, Devinn Smart, Anjna Goodwin, Andre Daniel Jr, Dominique Jones, Ezekiel Ringstaff, Amaria Daniel, Dallis Jones, Shyla Daniel, five great-grandchildren Ledger Staley, Jaquan Cody Jones Jr, Kylian Staley, Kali Randolph, and Ezekiel Ringstaff Jr.
A Celebration of life was held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Welcome Missionary Baptist Church, Pontiac, Michigan.
Burial will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, Chillicothe, on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 1:00pm.
