Marlin D. Easterday, 93, of Chillicothe, passed from this life December 11, 2022, following a brief illness. Marlin was born September 14, 1929, in Huntington Twp. to Harvey and Mary (Chaney) Easterday. On September 1, 1950, he married Alice Mendenhall Easterday. The two shared 61 wonderful years together until her passing January 21, 2011. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers Virgil, Everett, Foster, Reverend Walter, and Roger; and a sister Ruth Easterday Rinehart. Surviving are sons and daughter: Dannie D. (Lisa), Anthony D. (Jami) and Brenda (Dave) Kenz; grandchildren: Ashley (Jeremy) Riley, Brittany (Jake) Mitchell, Kelli (Jason) Warrens, Megan (Tim) Seaman, Nicholas D. Easterday and Tyler D. Easterday; great-grandchildren: Amelia and Lucy Riley, Andy and Raymond Mitchell, and Ava and Ireland Warrens. An Air Force Veteran, Marlin honorably served 4 years active duty during the Korean War and as a standby active reserve during the Vietnam War. He served as a Staff Sergeant and Senior Command Center Specialist Supervisor with top secret clearance at the Pentagon. Marlin attended the Chillicothe Business School under the GI Bill and graduated with honors. He then proceeded to work more than 60 years in public service including township, county, state and federal government positions. Wanting to make an impact on his roots, he served as a Ross County Sheriff Deputy, a Huntington Twp. Clerk and Justice of the Peace. He also organized and was Chief of the first fire department in that township. Following his retirement from the State Auditor's Office, he served 6 years as director of the Ross Co. Senior Center and spent decades as a personal tax advisor. He was a member of the Bainbridge Lodge 196, F &AM, American Legion, Post 757, AM Vets, Post 4, Association of Govt. Accountants, National Economist Club, Global Economist Action Institute, The Leadership Institute of Education Foundation, The Global Who's Who World Registry of Global Business Leaders and was a Certified Govt. Financial Manager. Marlin was a man of strong faith and integrity, devoted to his family, served community with pride, possessed a work ethic like no other and was a true friend to many. The family would like to thank the Adena Regional Medical Center 2A Palliative/Hospice staff for their excellent care and kindness. His funeral service will be held at 1pm Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Twin Twp. Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 1pm Saturday at the funeral home.
