Marjorie "Margie" A. (Gragg) Shoemaker, 85, of South Salem, departed from this life peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 6, 2017. Margie was born November 7, 1932, in Ross County to the late William and Ruby (Miller) Gragg. On June 16, 1951, she married Charles Lester Shoemaker, who predeceased her. She is survived by her daughters: Bonnie Mitchell, Bourneville, Robin (Kenny) Miller, South Salem, Kimberly (Mike) Penrod, Chillicothe; brothers: Donald Gragg, Bourneville, Rusty Gragg, Chillicothe, Mike Gragg, Chillicothe; sisters: Janice Lytle, Bourneville, Mary Allensworth, Washington, UT, Maxine Stewart, Bainbridge; grandsons: Billy Mitchell, Bourneville, Joe (Sonya) Mitchell, South Salem, Mark (Rachel) Mitchell, Washington C.H., Shawn (Tessa) Miller, Frankfort, Josh (Onya) Miller, Bourneville, Michael (Tammy) Penrod, Chillicothe, Justin (Hillary) Penrod, Chillicothe; great-grandchildren: Miranda Bryan, Willie, Maddie and Liam Kern, Jazlynn and Anthen Miller, Abby Evans, Megan, Charlie and Ivan Penrod, Lilly, Emily, Ashley, Bailey and Autumn Mitchell. She was predeceased by son-in-law Bill Mitchell; brothers: Ernest and Billy Gragg; sisters Judy Stewart and Charity Steinbrook. Margie was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a strong, independent woman, an avid homemaker who was known for her cooking and baking skills. She was an outdoorswoman who loved to hunt and fish in her younger days. She also enjoyed farming, especially raising 4H hogs. Gardening and canning were among her other talents. The family would like to thank Adena Hospice for their supportive care. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, December 11, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Twin Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call from 11am until 1pm Monday at Haller's.
