Obituary for Marjorie
“Sue” Park
Marjorie “Sue”
Park passed away on December 16, 2025, following an extended illness. She was born
on July 16, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio.
Sue was
preceded in death by her parents, Annabelle (Valentine) Brush and Jesse Brush;
nine siblings, including David McAninch, Helen Correa, Barbara Brush, Mike
Brush, Jesse Brush, Jack Brush, Nancy Hunt, Patricia Brush, and George Brush;
and two beloved grandchildren, Phillip J. “PJ” Adcock and Yasmeen Annabelle
Guessous.
She is survived
by her sisters-in-law, Linda Brush of Bradenton, Florida, with whom she shared
a special bond; Linda Carruthers, and Carolyn Park; her children, Sandra
Richendollar (Samuel), Sheryl Brown (Mark McCloskey), Samuel Park, Jr. (Suzy),
and Steven Park; her grandchildren, Dacion Crabtree (Brandy), Shandie Bennett
(Shane), Bobby Brown (Paige), Chad Park, Bodar Imler, Sophia Richendollar, Samuel
Park III, Joshlynn Banks, and Ivry Park; nine great-grandchildren; and many
nieces and nephews. Sue remained close with her former husband, Samuel Park,
Sr., who also survives. Her lifelong best friend, Christinia Foster, and dear
friend Barb Notestone, also survive. Sue loved her animals, leaving behind her
kitty, Gracie.
Sue spent most
of her adult life in Chillicothe. Throughout her working years, she held many
jobs, but none brought her more joy than bartending. She worked at Billy Dukes
Corral, American Legion Post 62, the Elks Lodge #52, and other local bars. Over
the years, Sue poured a lot of drinks, threw a lot of darts, told a lot of
jokes, and made a lot of lifelong friends. She volunteered her time for years
at the American Legion making Thanksgiving dinner, while playing euchre, having
a “rum pop” or iced tea, and playing the tickets.
Since a car
accident in 1999, Sue lived a quieter but fulfilling life. She found joy in
living with her brothers Jack and George, hosting sleepovers with her
grandchildren, making family dinners, and playing video games, board games, and
card games. A fierce competitor, Sue was a master of euchre and Scrabble,
rarely defeated and showing no mercy. She was an avid reader, often finishing
three books a day. She loved Stephen King novels.
In the weeks
before her passing, Sue shared that she had no regrets and was content with how
her life had turned out. Those who knew her best will remember her for her
generous heart—she would do just about anything for anyone. Sue was deeply
forgiving, never met a stranger, and opened her home to many friends and family
over the years. In turn, she was surrounded by love and support when she needed
it most.
Sue especially
loved the holidays, so she would want you to enjoy those holiday lights and
decorations, the Christmas cookies, the holiday gifts. But, most of all, she
would want you to love with all your heart, hug with all your strength, linger
a little longer after dinner, share another story, tell another joke, play
another game, have another drink, and live in the moment.
In keeping with
her wishes, no funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may
be made in Sue’s memory to American Legion Post 62, Attn: Mike Holtz, 153 East
Main Street, Chillicothe, OH 45601.
