Marjorie Matthews

Marjorie J. Matthews, 88, of Chillicothe, died 2:10 am, December 24, 2018 at National Church Residences-Chillicothe.

She was born February 6, 1930 in Ross Co. to the late Robert and Virgie Seymour Waller. On February 11, 1950 she married Joe Lee Matthews Sr., who died October 4, 1998. Survivors include two children, Rebecca (Randy) Lingo and Joe L. Matthews Jr., both of Chillicothe; five grandchildren, Sarah (Quentin Thompson) Lingo, Elizabeth Lingo, Tobias (Natasha) Lingo, Amanda Lee, and Shane (Olivia) Matthews; eight great-grandchildren, Jordan, McKellan, Maxwell, Hunter, Hudson, Hadley, Miles and Mallory; three sisters, Madeline Newell, Connie (Don) Carnes, and Anna Fleshman, all of Chillicothe; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert (Norma) Waller.

Mrs. Matthews was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an excellent seamstress, an accomplished tole artist, an avid reader, and loved animals.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, Pastor Greg Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call 11:00 – 1:00 Friday at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ross Co. Humane Society, 2308 A Lick Run Rd., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
