Marianne Hughes

Marianne Hughes, 78, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2009, in her home with her children by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 6, 1930, in Ross Co. to the late Fred and Jennie Davis Shoemaker. On July 17, 1977, she married William H. Hughes, who preceded her in death on August 13, 1998. Surviving are her children: Melanie (Gary) Minnix; Linda Davidson; all of Chillicothe; David Anthony Davidson, of Lutz, FL; Steve (Shirley Ramsey) Davidson, of Chillicothe; and Robert (Lynn) Davidson, of Orlando, FL; a step-son Edward (Teri) Hughes, of Washington C.H.; grandchildren: Sandra McFadden (Brent Williams), Tony Davidson, and Jenny Lee Davidson; great-grandchildren: Andrew Murphy and Cassie Murphy; special nieces Diane Sue Popadych and Sonie (Joe) Frazier. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Ruth Walls; Emma Jean "Babe" Shoemaker; and Freda Shoemaker. Mrs. Hughes worked as a nurse's aide at Chillicothe Hospital, Deiber's Nursing Home and the Veterans Administration Medical Center here in Chillicothe. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday, August 3, at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. John Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery.
