Marian Sue Goshorn

November 30, 1940 — March 15, 2026

Chillicothe

Marian Sue Goshorn, 85, of Chillicothe, passed away early Sunday morning, March 15, 2026, in Chillicothe, with her family by her side, following a quick but courageous battle with brain cancer.

Born in Chillicothe on November 30, 1940, Sue was the daughter of the late Henry Oris and Lena Maude (Applegate) Stafford. She began a lifelong journey with her high school sweetheart, Tom Goshorn, on September 17, 1960. Together, they built a beautiful life spanning more than 65 wonderful years of marriage.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Jerry (Michele) Goshorn and Tiffany (Brandon) Newman; grandchildren, Gabrielle (fiancé Drew Davis) Goshorn, Savana Goshorn, Zoey Newman, Tomi Newman, Nicole Goshorn, and Caden Goshorn; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jefre Goshorn, her brother, Gary Stafford and his son, Scott Stafford.

Sue was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1958, and a lifelong member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She took great pride in raising her family and creating a beautiful home. Her knack for decorating was unparalleled. The proof came when her home was featured in Country Almanac magazine. Widely admired for her impeccable style, Sue was known as one of the classiest ladies in town—a woman who truly took pride in every detail of her presentation.

Sue and Tom shared many travel adventures together, including their cherished yearly trips to Myrtle Beach, where the family spent two weeks each summer making memories. Sue and Tom enjoyed shopping of any sort including antique shopping and clothes shopping. They have always loved dancing together—earning the titles of Jitterbug King and Queen in high school.

While Tom traveled for work, Sue filled her home with creativity and charm. She was a gifted artisan who spent countless hours hand-stitching quilts, cross-stitching, and mastering the art of tole painting, macramé, and even candlewicking. Her creative talents extended into her garden and her festive holiday displays, both inside and out. Sue shared laughter and many stories with her 'Card Club gals’, where a game of Canasta grew into cherished, lifelong friendships.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Haller Funeral Home, with Pastor Chris Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sue’s honor may be made to The James Brain and Spine Care Program through The Ohio State University Foundation.

Sue will be remembered for her love of family, her warm spirit, her uncanny intuition and the many beautiful memories she created for those who knew and loved her.
