Margaret Owens

Margaret Christine "Sammy" Owens, 89, of Chillicothe, died 1:49 pm, Saturday, December 30, 2017, at the Adena Regional Medical Center.   She was born March 3, 1928 in Chicago, IL to the late Edward and Margaret Ewers McBride. On August 20, 1949 she married Howard Lloyd Owens Jr., who died in 1988. Survivors include her three children, James, Karen and Thomas Owens, all of Chillicothe; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Patricia Hughes and Elizabeth (James) Myers, of Westerville, and Thomas (Barb) McBride, of Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, May Olsen.   Sammy was a lifelong member of Walnut St. United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Elks Lodge 52 and the American Legion Post 62 Auxiliary. She volunteered for the Good Samaritan Food Pantry and the Yoctangee Park Visitor Center.   Funeral services will be held immediately following an Elks Service at 7:00 pm Friday, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Friends may call 5-7 pm Friday at Haller's. In addition, a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date, to be held on what would have been her 90 th birthday, March 3, 2018, at the American Legion Post 62. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions made to the Good Samaritan Food Pantry, 255 N. Woodbridge Ave., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
