Margaret Mcgarvey

Margaret M. McGarvey, 90, of Waverly, formerly of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord at 8:13am Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Southern Ohio Medical Center, Portsmouth. She was born October 10, 1922, in Ross County, to the late Grant and Ida D. (Stoneburner) Davis. On December 12, 1964, she married James E. McGarvey, who preceded her in death on June 12, 1996. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Mary Ellen (Jack) Tackett, Piketon; step-son Jimmie D. (Margie) McGarvey, Chillicothe; step-daughter-in-law Janet McGarvey, Chillicothe; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a sister Theresa Peecher, Londonderry; and a brother and sister-in-law Paul (Sylvia) Davis, Chillicothe. She was predeceased by her step-sons Darrell and Richard McGarvey; brothers Ulysses, Charles and Calvin Davis; and sisters Alice Davis, Virginia Wood and Sarah Wood. Mrs. McGarvey was a retired licensed cosmetologist. She graduated from the Ohio State School of Cosmetology in 1955. She also taught cosmetology at the Pickaway-Ross Joint Vocational School, worked as a state inspector of beauty salons and worked on the State of Ohio Board of Cosmetologist Licensure. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, January 26, at the Haller Funeral Home, with Rev. Steven J. Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 11am until 1pm at Haller Funeral Home.
