Margaret "Margie" Elizabeth Huber Palco, 68, of Chillicothe, Ohio, and formerly of Pasadena, Texas, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Born on December 22, 1957, in Warren, Pennsylvania, Margie was the beloved daughter of the late William and Chelcie (Burford) Huber. She will be remembered for her deep Christian faith, her servant's heart, her love of teaching, and the joy she found in learning, travel, and relationships. Margie had a way of making friends wherever she went, and her life reflected a genuine desire to encourage, serve, and care for others.
Margie graduated from Warren Area High School with the Class of 1976. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Spanish from Grove City College in 1980. During her college years, she spent a semester studying abroad at the University of Valencia in Valencia, Spain, an experience that helped shape her lifelong love of language, culture, and travel. She was also a member of Sigma Delta Phi Sorority and Alpha Mu Gamma Language Honorary.
Teaching was more than Margie's profession; it was one of the great callings of her life. She devoted many years to educating children in the Pasadena Independent School District, teaching at J.D. Parks Elementary, Sparks Elementary, and Gardens Elementary before retiring in 2014. Her love of education extended beyond the United States as well, including time spent teaching English as a Second Language in Lima, Peru.
Margie's faith was the foundation of who she was. Over the years, she faithfully served in the churches she attended through worship music, Vacation Bible School, women's ministry, Emmaus Walks, and mission trips. She loved serving others and sharing God's love in practical ways. One of the highlights of her ministry was serving with Living Water International in Honduras in 2015, where she used her gift for language as an interpreter.
Margie also had an adventurous spirit and a deep appreciation for the world around her. Her travels took her to Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Spain, France, Austria, Germany, China, and many other places. She also served for several years as a docent at the Holocaust Museum Houston, where she helped educate visitors and preserve the memory of history.
In recent months, Margie had moved from Texas to Ohio to be closer to family and was looking forward to beginning a new chapter of her life. She had found a home she loved and was preparing to settle into this next season surrounded by the people who loved her. Though that chapter was far shorter than anyone expected, her family is grateful for the time they had with her and for the peace of knowing she was near them in her final days.
Those who knew Margie will remember her curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm for life. She loved reading and dreamed of one day writing a series of books from the porch of her future home. She enjoyed crafts, yard sales, antique shopping, Christian concerts and seminars, and the Houston Rodeo, which was a must for her every year. She treasured meaningful conversations, family gatherings, church fellowship, and friendships that stretched across the country and around the world.
Margie is survived by her brother, William "Tom" Huber and his wife, Janet, of Pendleton, Indiana; her sister, Lois Callender and her husband, Terry, of Chillicothe, Ohio; her nephews, Andrew (Lindsay) Huber of Flagstaff, Arizona, and Matthew Kifer of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania; and her nieces, Jill (Huber) Rodgers and Mark Roberts, of Pendleton, Indiana, Ashley (Aaron) Neidig of Granville, Ohio, and Allison (Brandon) Watkins of Logan, Ohio.
She is also survived by her great-nephews, Cody and Caden Rodgers, Gavin and Drew Huber, Luca Kifer, Andrew Neidig, and Baby Watkins, who is expected in August; her great-nieces, Adelynne, Amelia, and Anna Neidig; numerous cousins; and many dear friends around the world.
In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia Kifer; her brother-in-law, Jeff Kifer, and their daughter Bethany Jo Kifer; several beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her cherished Texas adopted family, the late John and Ethel Bowser of Pasadena, Texas.
Margie also shared a special bond with the Bowser family's children; Lynda, Joanne, Barbara, Nancy, John, Becky, and Jim, who remained an important part of her extended family and life in Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Warren, Pennsylvania, in late summer or early fall. Details will be announced by the family.
Margie's life was marked by faith, compassion, generosity, and a desire to serve others. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her family finds comfort in the promise that she is now at peace in the presence of the Savior she faithfully served throughout her life.
