Margaret Bethel

Margaret L. Bethel, 88, of Chillicothe, passed away at 6:45am June 22, 2018, at NCR Traditions of Chillicothe.   She was born on November 19, 1929, in Chillicothe, the third child of Charles and Mary (Wagner) Cottrill. Margaret was a 1947 graduate of Chillicothe High School and worked for many years as a bank teller at the First National Bank of Chillicothe. She later served as church secretary for Tyler Memorial United Methodist Church, during which time she was a devoted member of the church.   Margaret was married for 22 years to Ronald Bethel and they had two children: Orren, born in 1957; and Kathy, born in 1960. Though their marriage ended in divorce, they later established a friendship that lasted until Ronald's death in 2010.   Margaret is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Orren (Lisa) Bethel, of Martinsburg, WV; son-in-law Steve Maybriar, Chillicothe; grandchildren: Ryan Maybriar and Kristin Maybriar, both of Chillicothe; Emily Bethel, of Martinsburg, WV, and Andrew Bethel, of Athens, OH; and her sister Laura Lovell, of Chillicothe. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles Cottrill and Mary Trader; a brother George, in 1992; and her daughter Kathy, in 2017.   A celebration of Margaret's life will be held at 11am, Saturday, July 14, at Tyler Memorial UMC, with Rev. Sam Mincey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
