Major Louis M. Zupi USA-R, 87, of Chillicothe, died 11:01 am, Thursday, June 11, 2009, in Traditions of Chillicothe. He was born March 28,1922 in New York City, NY to Anthony and Rachel Gallichio Zupi. On November 4, 1949 he married Elizabeth K. Jenson, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Anthony L. (Linda) Zupi, of Tucson, AZ, Larry S. (Pam) Zupi, of Chillicothe, David J. (Ronda) Zupi, of Fargo, ND, and Joseph T. (Maureen) Zupi, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Katie, Ryan, Beth Ann, Michael, Stephen, Casey, Megan and Nicholas Zupi; and great-grandchildren, Matthew and Austin. Major Zupi retired following more than 25 years in the United States Army. He served in two wars, including three landings, Makin, Saipan, and Okinawa, fighting with the 69th Regiment, Fighting Irish. He served Ross Co. as a special deputy under three sheriffs, and as a probation officer. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 16, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Arlington National Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm Monday at the Haller Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church Endowment; 61 S. Paint St.; Bishop Flaget School Endowment, 570 Parsons Ave.; Traditions Employee Committee, 142 University Dr., Attn: Diane Harris; or any charitable military fund.
