Madeline Jane Dixon passed peacefully into her Lord and Savior’s arms on March 7th, 2026. She was born on March 31, 1923 in Chillicothe, Ohio to Charles and Elsie Brofft Coppel. She was a 1941 graduate of Chillicothe High School. On April 25th, 1942, she was married to Ralph N. Dixon. They enjoyed 60 years together. Ralph passed away Sept 13, 2003.
Madeline is survived by her daughter, Melissa Dixon of Pataskala; nieces Nora Russell Bolon of Gahanna, Janet Jenkins of Grove City, and Joyce L. Miller of Chillicothe; and five grandchildren, Andrew Lytle, Shannon McQueen, Ryan Stout, Daniel Stout, and Sarah Stout. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph N. Dixon; her daughter, Sally Lytle; her parents, 3 sisters, and 3 brothers.
Also surviving is the Allen and Jeri Bookwalter family who were a special help and blessing to Madeline for many years. Angi (Bookwalter) McClish and Jami (Bookwalter) Caldwell affectionately called Madeline “Nana” and her husband “Papa” and adopted them as their grandparents over 50 years ago. She was also proud to be the adopted great-grandma to Matthew, Megan, and Jeffrey McClish, and Caleb and Maddy Caldwell.
Madeline had a strong faith in Jesus, and that was evident in the way she lived her life.
A private graveside service will take place at St. Margaret’s Cemetery in Chillicothe.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the wonderful care given to Madeline by the many nurses, aides, and staff of Abbington of Arlington, Summit Hospice, Meadow Grove Transitional Care, Bella Care Hospice, and Cornerstone Caregiving.
