M. Shonkwiler

Mary P. "Polly" Shonkwiler, 79, of Chillicothe, died at 6:42pm Tuesday December 4, 2007, in Westmoreland Place. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Friday December 7, at the Haller Funeral Home with Dr. Ronald Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may call Thursday from 5-7pm at Haller Funeral Home. Polly was born March 26, 1928, in Chillicothe, to the late Bartley and Leona Burton Rohrer. On January 7, 1951, she married Maj. Howard Shonkwiler, Jr., who preceded her in death on May 6, 1967. Surviving are her daughter Pamela J. Shonkwiler; daughter and son-in-law Christine B. (Rick) Hannan, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren Leslie C. (Forbes) Hamman, Chillicothe; J. Lauren Henthorne, Columbus; and Benjamin H. Henthorne, Honolulu, HI; and a sister and brother-in-law Maxine (Robert A.) Rittinger, of Chillicothe. She was predeceased by a daughter Sarah K. Shonkwiler. Polly was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1946, and was active with alumni class. She had worked at the Adena Regional Medical Center Credit Union. In addition to being devoted to her family and her class, Polly loved spending time with her grandchildren.
