Lyle Seward

Lyle G. Seward, Sr., 83, of Chillicothe, died at 3:16pm Tuesday, September 9, 2008, in Adena Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday in the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Webb, Jr. and Bishop Melvin Maughmer officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Lyle was born September 11, 1924, in Frankfort, OH, to the late Glenwood and Florence Bayless Seward. On November 4, 1965, he married the former Hazel Marie Perdue, who survives. Also surviving are his children: Alan (Teresa) Seward; Glenn Seward; Jimmie (Sadie) Seward; Edward (Carol) Whitley; Steve (Sharon) Whitley; Cheryl (Roger, Jr.) Webb; John (Jill) Whitley, all of Chillicothe; Wanda Greenburg, Cincinnati; Don (Marie) Whitley, Bourneville; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother Walt Seward. He was predeceased by brothers Jack, Wallace and Reggie; and his sister Jane. Lyle worked at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a nursing assistant and worked for Herlihy Moving. He served his country in the Army during WWII. He was affiliated with the River of Life Church of God, was a professional boxer, an avid bowler, baseball player, and a big Ohio State fan.
