Lyle J. Schumacher, 78, of Chillicothe, formerly of Winona, MN, died at 9:50am Friday, December 16, in his home in loving care with his family. He was born February 14, 1933, in Lakefield, MN, to the late Clayton and Viola Rapp Schumacher. On August 19, 1961, he married his wife Julie Navarro Schumacher, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter and son-in-law KayMarie (Thomas) Rohn; son and daughter-in-law L. John (Tracy) Schumacher; grandchildren: Zachary Tyler Schumacher, Angelique ClaRayla Rohn, Justin Michael Schumacher, Jessica Marie Schumacher, Hunter Bearnard Rohn, JoZef John Rohn, and JeRicho Navarro Rohn, all of Chillicothe; brothers Raymond Schumacher, Battle Lake, MN; and Harold (Sharon) Schumacher, Minneapolis, MN; sister Dorothy Fischer, Sumter, SC; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Minnie Garcia, Joe Elizondo, Tillie & Paul Perez, Nick & Lucille Navarro, Raymond Navarro, Thomas & Sharon Navarro, Rueben & Jean Fernandez, Lola & Tom Gonzalas, Mary Navarro, Mario & Pam Navarro, Nick Navarro Jr. and special friend Marcia; his Godchildren: Anita Blair, Maren Navarro, Hugh Polus; many loving nephews and nieces; his special hunting buddies: Jim Bambenek, Dick Black, Bruce Edwards, Paul Petterson, Gordie Polus; and his cat "Socks". He was predeceased by brothers-in-law Joseph Fischer, Sandy Garcia, Gilbert Fernandez, Daniel Navarro; sisters-in-law Darlene Schumacher, Frannie Elizondo, Erlene Navarro, Georgette Navarro; and a Godchild Tino Navarro. Lyle was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and life long member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an insurance agent having worked as a manager for Prudential Insurance and retired with All-State Insurance companies. He was a past Minnesota State Chairman of the American Heart Assoc. and a member of the Archery club and NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing with his grandchildren and playing racquetball. Lyle and Julie enjoyed attending daily mass and then having coffee at McDonald's with their friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00am Tuesday, December 20, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Rev. William Hahn, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5-7pm at Haller Funeral Home, where a wake service followed by the praying of the rosary will begin at 7pm.
