Luther Richard "Dick" Willett, Sr., 79, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Friday, September 15, 2023 at his home.
He was born September 4, 1944 in Ross County, son of the late Harry L. and Cora Marie (Annon) Willett.
Surviving is his former wife and lifelong best friend, Conley McCoy; their two beloved sons, Luther R. Willett, Jr, and Harry L. Willett, both of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Derrik (Heather), Jason (Heather), Dylan, and Brandon Willett, all of Chillicothe; great-grandchildren, Grace, Emma, Keaghan, and Gunner Willett, all of Chillicothe; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Charles Willett, and two infant brothers, Harry L. and Samuel.
Following his high school graduation, Dick enlisted in the United States Army where he served honorably during the Vietnam War from 1962-1964. He went on to work as a mechanic and as an auto service manager for many years before retiring. He was a longtime member of the Trinity Holy Church on Hickory Street in Chillicothe.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Trinity Lighthouse Holiness Church, 190 S. Hickory St., Chillicothe. Military honors provided by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard will follow directly after the service at the church. Burial in Twin Township Cemetery will be announced at a future date.
