Luther Gilbert Malone, 74 of Chillicothe died at 6:16 pm, Monday, August 1, 2016, at the Adena Medical Center. He was born July 15, 1942, in Massieville, OH, to the late Gilbert Bryan and Anna Marie Maddy Malone. On May 1, 1967, he married Abagail Coon who survives. He is survived by his children Rebecca Danner, Mary (Robert "Toot") Carroll, Johnny Hughes, and Ricky (Autumn) Hughes, Tammy Malone, Melissa (John) Bushatz, Luther G. (Patty), II, and special grandson Daniel (Amanda) Hughes, who he raised. Grandchildren: Adam (Marcella), Shane (Lori), Scott, Ronnie, Tara (Ben), Violet (Mark), Anthony, Jeremy, Josh, Jason, Danny, Daniel, Rodney, Stacey, Ricky, Jr., Elizabeth, Brittany, Zechariah, Lacie, Jerimiah, Annabelle, Michael (Amy), Jimmy (Kelly), Abby, Melinda, Kayla, Tara, and Josh (Samantha); multiple great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters Ruth Keyser of Pickerington, Helen England of Chillicothe, and twin sister Mary Anna Johnson of Frankfort; sister-in-law Laurie Belle Truex; special nephew Larry (Evelyn) Deal, special friends Joyce and Elwood Haddox; special friends from the Pike County Pawn Shop; many nieces and nephews including special nephew Ed (Pam) Sheets; and his fur baby "Annie." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by mother and father-in-law Samuel and Susie Baer Coon; siblings and spouses Osie and Donald Deal, Joseph and Mary Malone, David and Margaret Malone, Martha Coon; brothers-in-law Thurland Keyser, Bill Johnson, Joe Coon, Paul Truex; son-in-law Michael Seymour, Sr.; grandson Jay Rapp; and longtime beloved fur baby "Princess." Luther was a member of the Ross County Ramblers for 37 years playing steel guitar and calling square dances. He was a member of the Common Cause band, playing at Crispie Creme Donuts every Friday night. Luther worked for 35 years are the caretaker for Floral Hills Memory Gardens and then worked as assistant maintenance supervisor for Huntington Local Schools. He was a member of Jefferson Avenue CCCU where he served as part of the praise team. Another of his favorite pastimes was playing music with family and friends on Mt. Tabor Road each week. He was a 1960 graduate of Waverly High School and a Navy Veteran. A Celebration in his honor will be held at Noon Saturday at the Jefferson Ave. CCCU with Pastors Kenny Roark, Tim Keeton, Rick Hartley and Mark Clendaniel officiating. At his request, calling hours will not be observed. Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home.
