Lovada Cousins

Lovada F. Cousins, 91, of Chillicothe, slipped peacefully away to her heavenly home, with her son by her side, at 8:20am March 1, 2024, at Traditions of Chillicothe.

She was born August 15, 1932, in Chillicothe, to the late Hobart and Grace E. (Keel) Austin.  On April 6, 1953, she married Ronald W. Cousins, Sr., who preceded her in death September 25, 2020.

Surviving are her son Ronald W. Cousins, Jr., of Chillicothe; granddaughters Brooklynn (Terell) Carter-Davis, Melika Bowen, and Monaja Netter; great-grandchildren: Abeni, Rain and Gavyn Davis; sisters Lucile Lee and Nedra Valentine, both of Chillicothe; her "adopted" sons Perry and Bryan Howard; many special friends including Pat Cousins and Donna Williams; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.  She was predeceased by her parents, husband, daughter and son-in-law Ronda (John) Carter, and 8 siblings: William Hill, Harold Austin, Christina Duncan, Russell Austin, Hobart Austin, Jr., Chester Austin, Norma Smith and Mary Howard.

Mrs. Cousins was a member of Zion Baptist Church where she had been active with the Missionary, Senior Choir, Luck Club and volunteered at the clothing bank.

Her funeral service will be held at 1pm Thursday, March 7, at the former Zion Baptist Church, 536 Mill St., Chillicothe, with Rev. Dr. J. Troy Gray officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 11am-1pm Thursday at the church.
