Lois J. "Sally" Hitchens, 71, of Chillicothe, died 1:08 am, November 14, 2008 in the Adena Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, in First Baptist Church, Rev. Jonathan McReynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call 11-1 Wednesday at the church. She was born February 25, 1937 in Chillicothe to Edwin and Lenore Harris Powell. Survivors include 2 daughters, Lisa K. Lucas, of Cypress, CA and Kara (Fred) Andrews, of Kettering, OH; 2 sons, Wayne Anthony Hitchens, of Dayton and Kirk Hitchens, of Shaker Heights, OH; 6 grandchildren, Timothy and Vanessa Lucas, Kaleb Murdock, Alexander K. Hitchens, Leah E. Hitchens, and David M. Hitchens; 3 great-grandchildren, Akira, Aaliyah, and Zakai; a sister, Betty Wingo, of Chillicothe; extended family, Etha Graves, Marcella, Robert, Kenneth, and Larry Hitchens, Gladys Farrow; her former husband, Wayne Alexander Hitchens; and several nieces; nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Richard and Edwin Powell; Floyd and Thelma Farrow, who raised her; and cousins with whom she was raised, Floyd "Til", Maurice and John Farrow. Sally retired from the Mead Corporation and was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was active in the choirs and hospitality ministries. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
