Lois Elaine (Welshimer) Dickson, age 76, born November 18, 1949, passed away after complications from a fall out of bed at a local nursing home.
She was divorced in 1994 after 25 years of marriage and had one son, Mark, who survives.
Lois retired in 2018 after being a church secretary at a local Methodist church for 24 years. She made many lifelong friends there and started her own ministry making cards and sending them to people. She also volunteered at the Good Samaritan Food Pantry for several years, where she enjoyed her co-workers and the people they assisted.
Lois was shunned by most of her family, but not all. She was a kind, caring person offering kindness to many and thinking of others, often times more than herself. It broke her heart to not understand why some in her family remained so distant and did not include her in family functions. Her brother Steve's side of the family showed her much love and included her in many family events and weddings. They truly enjoyed spending time with their Aunt Lois.
The last five years of her life were spent in a small condo-like community with good neighbors that became close friends. There were many kids in the area that came to call her Grandma Lois and would come to give her hugs and talk with her. She felt blessed to have such a loving community of people. She enjoyed spending time on her porch reading books like the Outlander series and watching the sunset.
At her request, cremation services will be handled under the direction of Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
