Lois Virginia (Zender) Crawford, 96, of Chillicothe, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at National Church Residences – Chillicothe. She was born on September 19, 1920, in Donora, PA, to the late George and Jennie Virginia (Simonson) Zender. On February 19, 1949, she married Jack Taylor Crawford, who preceded her in death on April 17, 1991. Lois is survived by her three daughters, Sherry (Charles) Crawford-Eyen, of Columbus, Valerie Crawford, of Chillicothe, and Pamela (Thomas) Tullis, of South Vienna; three grandchildren, Todd, Lisa, and Ashlee; 4 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie and Sandra Zender; a nephew, Steve Zender; a niece, Mary Paden; numerous Crawford nieces and nephews including Joan Clement; and a special friend Kathy. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two brothers George and Paul Zender, her niece Frances Chaffin, a special friend Dr. Frank Uhrig, and many Crawford relatives. Lois was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She also enjoyed volunteering for many organizations. She never failed to send a greeting card to all she knew on special occasions. She loved playing all kinds of card games and enjoyed competing in tournaments throughout the country. She became a Life Master at duplicate bridge which led her to directing card games on cruise ships. She will always be known for her competitive spirit that led her to never miss a card game, especially during happy hour. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Calvary Lutheran Church, with Pastor Janet Hatch officiating. A private burial with her husband will be held in Donora, PA at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Calvary Lutheran Church, 74 W. Main Street, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
