Lloyd Sheets

April 13, 1934 — October 11, 2025

The world grew a little dimmer on Saturday, October 11, 2025, when Lloyd A. Sheets left this earth as gently as he had lived… peaceful, steadfast, and full of love.

Born on April 13, 1934, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late James and Minnie (Bost) Sheets,  Lloyd's story was one of hard work, deep faith, and a heart that knew joy.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. A quiet hero who carried integrity in his every step.  After his service, he built a career at The Mead Corporation,  where for 42 and a half years, his dedication and strong work ethic became his unspoken legacy. But of all his roles, none shone brighter than the one he cherished most—b eing Janet's husband.

On September 4, 1954, he married the absolute love of his life, Janet Chester. Together they built a life filled with laughter, music, and a love that grew richer with every passing year. They fostered their beloved son, Ronnie Lee, who survives. A reflection of the devotion they poured into family.

Their love story was the kind people hope for; the kind that danced barefoot in the kitchen, sang hymns side by side at Bourneville Christian Union Church,  and collected seashells under golden Florida sunsets. Their life together was glorious, built on faith, love, and a sense of adventure that led them out west more times than anyone could count.  For 66 beautiful years, they were two souls moving as one, and when she passed in 2021, a piece of him went with her.

Lloyd was a man who made life brighter. He loved being around his friends and family, laughing loud, telling stories, and finding the good in everyone. He had a sweet tooth and a special fondness for Janet's apple pie, which, according to him, no one on earth could ever top.  He loved the calm of the woods during deer season, and the thrill of spotting beauty in the simple and small.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sisters: Ora Sheets, Kenneth Sheets, Geraldine Detty, Elise Deeter, and Chester Sheets; niece, Vicki May; and nephews: Brad and Leon Sheets.  He is lovingly remembered by a sister-in-law Patty Sheets, a brother-in-law, Larry (Linda) Chester; his nieces and nephews: Carolyn (Dale) Gillette, Cindy Martin, George Earl Deeter, Eddie (Suzanne) Detty, Lisa (Todd) Bennett, Kevin (Lori) Chester, Kami Wheeler; and numerous great-nieces and -nephews; and special friends Leroy and Brenda Weaver and their families.  Each carries a spark of his laughter and warmth in their hearts.

Lloyd's life was built on faith, love, and the joy of simply being present.  He was the kind of man who left you better for knowing him, the kind who could make you laugh on your hardest day, and the kind who proved that love—real love—never truly ends. Even now, we imagine him and Janet together again, dancing softly in heaven's kitchen, laughing like they always did, and smiling down on all of us with full hearts.  The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and caregivers of the VA Hospital.

His funeral service will be held at 10am Thursday, October 16, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, with Pastor Jamie Miller officiating.  Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Hallsville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
