Lisa Kay (Hitchens) Lucas, 67, passed away on January 12, 2026, in Lake Elsinore, California, after a brief illness. She was born on October 2, 1958, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to her late parents, Wayne and Lois “Sally” (Powell) Hitchens. Lisa was the third child born to her parents. She graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1976. Shortly after graduation, she moved to California where she made her home for the next 45 years.
Lisa was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Timothy (Desiree) Lucas and Vanessa Lucas Jackson, both of California; and her grandchildren, Akira, Aaliyah, Jewel, Zakai, Hadassah, and Giovanni. She is also survived by her brothers, Wayne Hitchens and Kirk Hitchens; her sister, Kara Hitchens; a special aunt, Etha Graves; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lisa will also be missed by her close friends Cicely McKinney and Gwendolyn Gray.
A woman of great faith, Lisa was baptized at an early age at First Baptist Church. As a young adult, she rededicated her life to Christ and spent her remaining years faithfully following Jesus and sharing the Good News. Over the years, she served in children’s ministry as a Sunday school teacher and was known as a wise Christian friend who freely offered her wisdom and counsel. In 2001, she graduated with honors from Biola University. She was a member of Knott Avenue Christian Church in Buena Park, California, until her health prevented her from attending.
Lisa found joy in creative arts, she loved traveling and relaxing at home watching her favorite game shows. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family. She excelled in her career in employee benefits administration, working for various companies, and had been employed by the City of Los Angeles from 2019 until her passing.
A celebration of life will be held on January 31, 2026, at 12:00pm, at First Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Grandview Cemetery. Public Visitation is from 11:00am-12:00pm.
