Lillian A. Franchuk, 81, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully at 6:45am on Monday, February 8, 2016, at the Kobacker House in Columbus. She was born in Killdeer, North Dakota, on November 4, 1934, to the late Joseph and Lena (Mittlestadt) Loscheider. On October 17, 1955, she married Joseph Franchuk, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Cheryl (Russell) Vranicar, of Chillicothe, Craig Franchuk, of Minneapolis, MN, and Chris (Sheila) Franchuk, of Plato, MN; four grandchildren, Trevor (Tayler) Vranicar, of Rome, NY, Kristin Vranicar, of Arlington, VA, Chrissandra Franchuk, of Plato, MN, and Blake Riedinger, of Blaine MN; a sister, Dorothy Krogen, of Bismarck, ND; four brothers, Gerald Loscheider, of Ronan, MT, Darrell (Beverly) Loscheider, of Colorado Springs, Don Loscheider, of Grand Forks, ND, and Eddie Loscheider, of Napa, CA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Rossmiller and Marian Piatz. Lillian worked as a teacher for many years before moving to Chillicothe. She and her husband began volunteering at Allen Elementary, where she worked for more than 11 years. During that time, she became known as a foster grandmother to the children at the school. The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone at Allen Elementary and the staff at the Kobacker House for all of their love, care and support throughout Lillian's illness. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday, February 11, at the Haller Funeral Home. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal ceremony.
