Lewis Hamler

Lewis (Lewie) Harold Hamler, a gentle soul of 91 years, died peacefully in Chillicothe Thursday, March 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 27, 1932, in Lockbourne, Ohio, to the late Wilbur and Margaret (Schumacher) Hamler. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife of 43 years, Lillian (Bauer) Hamler of Laurelville, and siblings Donna Jean Saunders Bell, Jim Hamler, and Susie Hamler. Survived by his wife of 29 years Carolyn (Rohrer) Hamler; children Jerry Hamler (Shirley), Jody Beaver (Jim), Jeff Hamler (Debbie), John Hamler (Tim Parker); stepson Todd Hammond (Tammy); 8 grandchildren – Brett Hamler, Alisha Porter (James), Kristen Hamler, Jenny Horn (Trevor), Travis Hamler, Jeff Hamler, Ashley Chaney (Kenny), and PJ Hawk; 13 great grandchildren, brother Bill Hamler (Ruth); many cousins, nieces and nephews, and fur baby companion Mollie.
After graduating from Tech School, Lewie worked for Olivetti Underwood for 30 years as a typewriter/adding machine repairman. While working and supporting his young family he proudly served his country for 7 years in the Air Force Reserve 121 st Tactical Fighter Wing at Rickenbacker Air Force Base (formerly known as Lockbourne Air Force Base). In his retirement he worked alongside his son at Schneider's Bakery in Westerville and volunteered at Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe where he lived with his wife Carolyn. He loved to soar the friendly skies with a close friend and enjoyed traveling to Florida in his camper for the winter months with his wife, brothers, and cousins before returning to Ohio for the summer.
Cremation provided by Haller Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 341 Clinton Rd., Chillicothe, OH, 45601, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Jarrod Bevan officiating.
