Lester L. Melching, 73, was called home to be with the Lord t 6:31am Monday January 14, 2019, following an extended illness. He was born June 18, 1945, and served our country in the US Air Force as a jet mechanic. On October 16, 1965, he married the love of his life of 53 years, Sandra D. (Towers) Melching, who survives. Also surviving is his loving son, Lester L. (Shawna) Melching, Jr.; special granddaughter Marissa J. (Dalton) Gray; two great-grandsons Jayden Melching and Bentlee "Pork Chop" Gray; his brothers Tony Melching, Jim (Debbie) Carpenter and Jeff (Kim) Carpenter; sisters Joyce (Jeff) Foster and Janice Campbell; many nieces and nephews; special friends Dave and Jeanie Stevens, Scott and Amanda Bowling and their kids; and his baseball buddy Paula Halasz. He was predeceased by his mom, Goldie M. Carpenter and step-father James Carpenter. He was very active in the church and was a member of Riversgate Fellowship with Pastor and dear friends Roger and Cheryl Webb. Calling hours will be held from 5-7pm Friday January 18, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at Riversgate Fellowship.
