Leroy Swackhammer

Leroy Swackhammer, 59, of Williamsport, went to be with the Lord, on Sunday, March 4, 2007, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Dayton, OH. He was born June 11, 1947, in Laurelville, OH, to Leland I. and Norma (Diehl) Swackhammer. On July 26, 1969, he married the former Anna Lee Fellenstein, who survives. Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law Daniel Lee (Charie) Swackhammer, of Chattanooga, TN; extended family Jeff (Sarah) Mahoney, of Muncie, IN; grandchildren: Cody Mahoney and Kiel Erwin, of Muncie, IN; his mother, Norma Winks; his step-mother, Esther Swackhammer, both of Chillicothe; brothers and sisters-in-law Paul E. (Mary) Winks and Danny (Janice) Swackhammer, all of Chillicothe; Larry (Pam) Winks, of Florida; a sister Betsy Jackson, Chillicothe; a step-sister, Patty Pullins, of Tennessee; and numerous nieces, nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Leland I. Swackhammer; his step-father Paul L. Winks; and 4 step-brothers and step-sisters. Leroy was loved and respected by his family and his many, many friends. Leroy was a member of Springbank Methodist Church. He worked for 35 years at E.I. DuPont as an operator. He also was a 35-year volunteer with the Union Twp. Fire Dept. He served his country in the US Navy as a "Sea Bee" during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 291, Kingston. Leroy loved his country and community, and faithfully served them both. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Miville and Pastor Paul Winks officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veteran Honor Guard will follow in Springbank Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8pm Wednesday at Haller Funeral Home.
