Leon Roberts

Leon E. Roberts, 92, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord at 4:48am Saturday, December 5, 2009, in Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born May 18, 1917, in Lawrence Co., KY, to the late Oscar and Dovie Evans Roberts. On May 17, 1946, he married the former Ellen L. Bland, who preceded him in death in 1998. Surviving are his daughters Janet Storts and Linda Sims, both of Chillicothe; sons and daughters-in-law Roger (Tina) Roberts, of Waverly; and John (Nancy) Roberts, Sr., of Chillicothe; grandchildren: David Roberts, Waverly; Barbara Roberts, of Kentucky; Larry (Amanda) Storts, Jr., Chillicothe; Yvonne Roberts, Cleveland; and John Roberts, Jr., Chillicothe; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother John Roberts, Chillicothe; and a sister Irene Ward, of Arizona. He was predeceased by a granddaughter Karen Ward; sons-in-law Larry Storts, Sr. and Floyd Sims; sisters Ruth Cochenour and Ethel Joy; and brothers Gene, Carl, Donald "Paul Ray" Roberts, and an infant brother Harold Roberts. Leon was a union construction worker for over 50 years and belonged to the Laborer's Local 83. He served his country in the US Army during WWII. Leon loved to be around all of God's people. He also loved to read his bible and study God's word. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, December 8, in the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Don Hamilton officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to the American Heart Association.
