Lee Butler

March 18, 1944 — January 5, 2009

Dr. Lee M. Butler, 64, of Chillicothe, died January 5, 2009, unexpectedly. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am, Saturday, January 10, 2009 in St. Peter Church, Rev. William Hahn, Celebrant. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday at the Haller Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8:00 pm. The family requests that family and friends wear Ohio State garments for the calling hours and funeral mass. Dr. Butler was born March 18, 1944 in Columbus, OH to Leo A. and Marie H. Pfleiger Butler. On July 22, 1967 he married Michele Bass Butler, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Tiffany (Nathan) Baldwin, of Frankfort, Andrea (Kirk) Rinehart, and Scott (Rachel) Butler, both of Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Julius Lee, Lucas Rinehart, Coen and Maggie Butler; two sisters, Stephanie (Ralph) Hudson, of Columbus and Diane (Greg) Gillen, of Hilton Head, SC; a brother-in-law, John (Linda) Bass, of Westerville, and his mother-in-law, Marie Bass, of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his parents. Dr. Butler was an orthodontist and very active in the Chillicothe community, including service as the Chairman of the Adena Health System Board of Trustees; as a Chillicothe City Councilman; as President of the Bishop Flaget School Board; as a member of the Chillicothe Noon Rotary and as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a four time graduate of the Ohio State University and was well known for his support of the University through many organizations including the OSU Alumni Association; the OSU Presidents Club; and his 15 tenure teaching in the School of Dentistry. He was also active in many professional associations including as a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics; a member of the American Association of Orthodontics; the American Dental Association; and the Ohio Dental Association. Memorial contributions may be made to the various CHS Athletics Programs, Chillicothe High School, 381 Yoctangee Parkway, Chillicothe OH 45601.
