Laymon G. "Tommy" Whitt, Jr., 39, of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 7, 2012, as a result of injuries sustained from an automobile accident. He was born October 1, 1972, in Chillicothe to Laymon G. "Tom" Whitt, Sr. and Debra Ann Compher Whitt. On September 17, 2008, he married Debra Ann Elliott, who survives. Also surviving are his mother, Debra A. Whitt, Chillicothe; his son Drew Whitt, Chillicothe; his step-daughter Anne Leach and her partner Steve Martin; step-son James (April) Leach, all of Chillicothe; his brother Douglas Whitt and his partner Michael Davis, of Columbus; 3 grandchildren: Boston Martin; and Conner and Cannen Leach, all of Chillicothe; his maternal grandmother Dorothy Compher, Chillicothe; his mother-in-law Judy Elliott; sister-in-law Sherry (Mark) Rapp, all of Chillicothe; and many aunts, uncles and extended family. He was predeceased by his father. Tommy was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1991. He was an avid sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Pirates and Boston Celtics with his aunt Debra Proehl. Tommy was the secretary for the First Capital Dart League and played in the Roundtown Dart League. He worked as a newspaper deliveryman for the Chillicothe Gazette and the USAToday and worked for the Chillicothe Commissary. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, March 10 at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home.
