Lawrence M. Detty Lawrence M. Detty, 83, of Chillicothe, died 9:38 am, February 5, 2008 in his home, unexpectedly. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Saturday in the Haller Funeral Home. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans' Honor Guard, will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 pm Friday at Haller's. He was born September 26, 1924 in Chillicothe, to George and Ida Moss Detty. Survivors include his children, Donna (Larry) Pollock, of Frankfort, Roy (Cheryl) Detty, of Chillicothe, and Lawrence Jr. (Crystal) Detty, of Springfield; 8 grandchildren, Larry, Keith, Kimberly, Patricia, and Ryan Pollock, Kayla, Betty, and Adam Detty, and Mickey Detty; great-grandchildren, Justin, Joseph, Matthew, Brennan, Kiersten, Kendahl, Ashley, Daniel, Amber, Samantha, Dante, Jordan and Ryan Jr.; a sister, Virginia (Howard) Henderson; and his second wife, Ray Ann Varner. He was preceded in death by a son, William; sisters, Norma Jean and Belle; brothers, Clarence and Arthur; his first wife, Mary Ford; and his third wife, Patricia Whaley. Mr. Detty retired from the Federal Prison System, holding several different positions. He was a retired bus driver for the Chillicothe Transit and the Chillicothe City School Bus systems. He was an Army World War II Veteran, participating in the Normandy Invasion. He was a member of VFW Post 62, the American Legion, School Employees Retirees of Ohio, and the Federal Prison Retirees Association.
