Lavetta M. Raney, 93, of Chillicothe, died Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Ohio State University Medical Center.
She was the widow of David E. Raney. She was born November 3, 1926 in Ross Co. to the late Edward J. and Inez (Taylor) Davis. She was also preceded in death by two children, Dennis T. Raney and Bonnie L. Thomas; three sisters, Helen (William) Harrington, Virginia Richardson and Edna M. (Fred) Raney; brothers, James Davis and Karl F. (Mary) Davis; brother-in-law, Philip S. (Norma) Raney; and sister-in-law, Rosa Raney. Survivors include granddaughters, Faye L. Raney and Lavetta D. Raney; grandsons Bobby Thomas, Mike Thomas, Philip (Dink) Thomas, James (Jimmy) Thomas, and Mark Thomas; great-nephew, Karl (Jackie) Davis II; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and special friends.
The passing of Lavetta M. Raney signifies the end of an era. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Known as Merle, she was loved by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and fiery spirit. She will be deeply missed.
