Laura Sanford

The world lost a beloved mother and nan, Laura Denise Sanford, who loved to be called Mama by her girls and Nan by her grandsons. She departed her loving family and went to be with the Lord on November 3, 2021.
Laura Denise Sanford was born on August 29, 1956 to Robert and Mary Ellen Hollingshead in Columbus, OH. Denise graduated from Reynoldsburg High School and Eastland Career Center before going on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education.
Surviving are her daughters, Miranda Burns and her partner Steve Grieser, Casey Sanford, and grandsons Ryan Burns and Mason Grieser, bonus granddaughters Anaya Tedesco and Emree Sparks, all of Chillicothe, OH.  She is also survived by her mother Mary Ellen Hollingshead-McClanahan, stepfather Arville McClanahan, her sisters Diane (Ted) Sprowl, Pamela (Rocky) Travis, her brothers Mark Hollingshead, Clarence "Pete" Hollingshead, Paul (Sherry) Hollingshead, her four stepsiblings Scott, Teresa, Lisa, and Lori, her boyfriend Jack Middleton, precious aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Denise was preceded in death by her father Robert E. Hollingshead, brother-in-law Steve Herrmann, and sister-in-law Debora Hollingshead.
Denise had a lifelong career in educating the children of Ross County. Her love for being a mother led her to become a parent volunteer with Head Start in 1979. She began working as an employee in 1981 and went on to become a Center Manager in her forty years of dedicated service. It was a priority to Denise to spend time with her family, whether it was cheering on her grandson Ryan at his sporting events, supporting her grandson Mason in his academic achievements, or faithfully attending gatherings with her daughters, sisters, brothers, and extended family and friends. In her free time, she enjoyed camping and going out to listen to live music, especially her favorite musician, Jack Middleton. Music was always a major part of Denise's life.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Wednesday at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with her brother Pete Hollingshead officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.  Friends may call 5:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday at Haller's.
