Larry Mcwhorter

Larry Jay McWhorter, 67, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord at 3:32am Sunday, September 25, 2005, at his residence following an 8 month battle with cancer. He was born May 24, 1938, in Ross Co. to the late Glenn and Mary Ann Walsh McWhorter. On August 24, 1985, he married the former Stella D. Morris, who survives. Also surviving are his sons Larry McWhorter, of Kentucky; Terry McWhorter, Chillicothe; son and daughter-in-law Todd (Janet) McWhorter, Chillicothe; step-children Kathy (Tim) Shanton, Waverly; Randy (Choncida) Doss, Chillicothe; Rick Doss, Missouri; Sherry (Gary) Haynes, Piketon; 9 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; his twin brother Jerry McWhorter, Lucasville; and brother Roger McWhorter, Chillicothe. He was predeceased by brothers Richard Walsh and Leslie McWhorter. Larry Retried from CHILPACO on January 1, 1998, where he worked as an electrician and was a member of the union Local 988. He attended Mt. Tabor Community Christian Church. Larry had served his country in the Army from 1955-1958 and he loved to play golf. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Wednesday at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Garman and Pastor Glenn Newland officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8pm Tuesday at Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Adena Hospice, 111 W.
