Larry Liggins

Larry Edwin Liggins, 79, of Chillicothe, passed away on Thursday afternoon, April 27, 2023 at his home, following an extended illness.

He was born October 8, 1943, in Frankfort, Ohio, son of the late Floyd and Nellie (Lowe) Liggins. On January 6, 1968, he married his beloved wife, Barbara Marie (Netter) Liggins, and together they shared over 53 years of marriage before her passing on July 19, 2021.

Surviving is their only son, Larry A. (Chanel) Liggins and one grandchild, Isaiah Liggins. Larry was also a special grandfather to Jr., Sara, Nikki, Makiah, Ashton, Ashlynn, and Rockwell. He is also survived by two sisters, Patricia Sewards, and Marsha (Gary)   Thomas; two nephews, Kirk Patterson and Anthony Patterson; one niece, Robyn Banks; as well as numerous cousins and extended family members. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a niece, Katherine Patterson.

Larry was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army who served our country during Vietnam. He went on to work at the Atomic Plant in Piketon, Ohio, where he retired as a security guard. He and his wife Barbara were members of The Original Glorious Church of God in Christ for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors going hunting and fishing. He also loved having a good chat with other veterans, and made a point to talk to anyone with military connections that he came across.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at The Original Glorious Church of God in Christ, with Bishop Melvin Maughmer and Elder Michael Maughmer officiating. Burial next to his beloved wife will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, where military graveside honors conducted by the Ross County Veteran's Honor Guard will take place. Friends may join the family from 11:00am until the time of the service.
