Larry S. Harris, 71, of Chillicothe, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, November 13, 2025, at his home.

He was born March 6, 1954, in Uniontown, PA and spent his early years growing up on a farm in Ohiopyle, PA. On January 8, 1990, he married the late Anita Harris and together they shared over 31 years of marriage.

He was also preceding in death by his father, Charles Harris, brother, Gene Harris, and sister, Linda (Harris) Ravenscroft. He is survived by his mother, Katherine (Dougal) Harris, his children, Ben (Jessica) Harris, Holly (Jeff) Moody, Lisa (Justin) Wilcox, Michael Harris, and Melissa (Jeremy) Boni; his five grandchildren: Chloe, Maggie, Olivia, Colin, Cameron, Hannah, and Emily; his siblings, Dave (Karen) Harris, Patty (Bobby) Morrison, Dale Harris, Carol (Bob) Parker, Diane (Kevin) Stiner, and Ed (Tina) Harris; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Larry is a US Navy Vietnam Veteran, serving from 1972 to 1975. 

Larry served as the Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinator with The Ohio State University from 2001 until his retirement in 2021. Larry and his wife Anita dedicated their lives to youth development through 4-H. Their commitment to providing a safe environment where youth and adults can learn, grow, and work together as catalysts for positive change have touched and guided the lives of thousands. He counseled, mentored, and led hundreds of volunteers by providing a foundational standard of honesty, integrity, respect, and dedication to the personal development of others.

Outside of his professional achievements, Larry, enjoyed working on any and all kinds of projects, especially those he gifted to others. He loved woodworking, hunting, and staying up late playing videogames. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and spoiling them with 3D printed toys.

A Celebration of Life in Larry's memory will be held at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory in Chillicothe, OH, on Friday, November 21st, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with Military Honors to pay tribute to Larry's service to our nation. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's memory can be made to Friends of Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports; checks can be mailed to 603 Woodcrest Dr. Mansfield, OH 44905, reflecting his lifelong commitment to fostering youth development and shooting sports.
