Larry Dalton Hill

Larry Dalton Hill, of Chillicothe, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026. He was born in Jones County, NC on April 23, 1949, to the late Thomas J. and Maude (Cole) Hill of Kinston, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Ronald Hill, Stanley Patrick Hill, Thomas Malcolm Hill, Robert Wayne Hill, and Gordon Earl Hill, all of Kinston, NC; Gary Allen Hill of Beaufort, NC; and Sidney Raymond Hill, Sr., of Tennessee.

Larry was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy and proudly served 21 years active military service during the Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. He also retired from the Chillicothe VA Medical Center after 12 years of service. Larry was an avid golfer and enjoyed the mixture of competition and fellowship with many of his close friends over the years. He was a lifelong learner and was a self-taught piano enthusiast. This love for music and learning led to his interest in music theory. Larry will be remembered for his quick wit, determination, love of learning and his love to tease his daughters, and especially his granddaughters.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Lori Jean (Kimbler) Hill, of Chillicothe; daughters, Laura Michelle Hill Pfeiffer (Cliff), of Ladson, SC, Deanna Carol Hill Honeycutt (Justin), of Grifton, NC, Susan Renee Hill Thomas, of Ladson, SC and Brittni Danielle Hill Drake (Eli) of Huntington, WV; granddaughters, Abigail Lynn Hill, Dakota Grace Honeycutt, Kennedi Mae Drake, Lauri Kay Drake, and Marjori Emmalei Drake; sisters, Sara Frances Hill Scearce, of Chesapeake, VA and Barbara Ann Hill Stell, of Raleigh, NC; and brother William Roger Hill, Of Mount Olive, NC; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Military Graveside will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at Little Mound Cemetery.
