Larry Richard Cousins, Sr., 83, of Chillicothe, passed away early Thursday morning, February 27, 2025 at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
He was born July 6, 1941 in Chillicothe, Ohio, son of the late George E. and Tula Mae (Netter) Cousins. On June 18, 2004, he married his beloved wife Maryland, with whom he shared over 49 loving years, before her passing on February 13, 2023.
Surviving are children, Larry Cousins, Jr., Rolanda "Micki" Cousins, Skyland (Jennifer) Cousins, Step children, Deanna (Chris) Durant, and Della (Brad) Aytch; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Mike (Crystal) Cousins, Kathy (Charlie) Sims, and Victor Cousins; a special cousin, Worletta Mask; special close friends, Pean Beatty, Mike Beatty, and Charles Brown; Home health Aid Anita who took care of him for over a year, as well as numerous extended family and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ronald (Lovada) Cousins, George Cousins, Skip Cousins, and Doug (Marjorie) Cousins.
Larry was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army. He went on to work for Chilpaco in Chillicothe for many years before retiring in 2002. He was a former member of the Glorious Church of God. He enjoyed watching online services of New Life Christian Church. Over the years, Larry enjoyed metal detecting around town, takings long walks with his dog Friskey, He also enjoyed collecting knives and coins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the New Life Christian Church in Chillicothe, with Pastor Victor Cousins officiating. Military graveside honors conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation from 11:00am until the time of the service at the church, located at 1033 Dayton Street, Chillicothe, OH 45601.
