Kip Alan Looney

December 27, 1966 — March 24, 2026

Frankfort

Kip Alan Looney,59, of Frankfort, left this world and went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 6:55pm with his loving and devoted wife, Kristin, at his side. Kip had suffered a massive stroke on October 27, 2025.

Kip was born on December 27, 1966 in Chillicothe, OH to the late Robert and Nancy(Fitzer) Looney. He is survived by his sister, Krista and brother-in-law, Jerrod Herald of Frankfort. He was preceded in death by his sister Lisa Looney Anstine. Kip is also survived by his brother-in-law Steve Kirkwood and his fiancé, Lori Hall, of Urbana. On November 27, 1986, Thanksgiving Day, Kip married the love of his life, Kristin Kirkwood. Together they have shared almost 40 years of beautiful life together and they enjoyed traveling, especially to Charleston, SC where they planned to retire.

Kip is survived by a loving daughter, Melissa Barnard, of Chillicothe, nephew and niece Christopher and Kara Anstine of Sevierville, TN, and nephews Justin and Jeremy Herald of Frankfort and a great-nephew, Jaxson Herald. Kip is also survived by granddaughter Alexis (Hart)McCray and grandson, Dalton McCray and three beautiful great-granddaughters, Addie, Josie, and Ivy McCray all of Chillicothe, OH. Kip loved spending time with the kids, building things for them and getting them on Grampy's big green tractor.

Kip was an employee of Kenworth Truck Company for almost 21 years. He truly enjoyed the work he did there and was very proud to say he built Kenworth Trucks. He was also an Electrician for almost 40 years and he took pride in each and every job he did no matter how big or small. Because of this he earned the friendship and respect of many of his co-workers and clients.

Kip had been a long-time member of Chillicothe Baptist Church where he and his wife worked side-by-side in many ministries within the church. One of his favorite ministries was that of Vacation Bible School Directors and being involved in the many special productions that the church did in order to bring both children and adults to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

His wife and family would like to thank all of the medical staff who have helped give Kip the chances he has had and that provided us with the extra time we would not have had if not for their help. First, Adena Hospital for acting so quickly and getting him to OSU. Next, Ohio State University Neurology/ICU for their constant and unwavering care and treatment. Next, Select Specialty Hospital in Columbus for their care and lastly to the amazing staff at St. Catherine's Skilled Nursing Facility in Washington Court House. The staff adopted Kip and Kristin, Respiratory was fantastic, nurses were wonderful. As Kip was nearing the end it was not uncommon to see staff with tears in their eyes or giving hugs to Kristin. The blessings that Kip and his wife received during this time has been absolutely a "God Thing" . We would like to thank all our friends, family and prayer warriors for their prayers, their faith and gifts, mostly for their love to us both.

A celebration of Kip's life will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 3:00pm, at Haller Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the time of service.
