Kevin Woods

September 29, 1959 — January 8, 2018

Kevin Jay Woods His soul exercised its most divine of human actions, on January 8, 2018. He was born September 29, 1959, to Jack V. and June E. Mallow Woods, of Chillicothe, Ohio. He shared his new home with his loving parents and his siblings, Col. Jon P. Woods (Diane), William E. Woods, Jack V. (Helen) Woods, Jr., Tamara L. (Dick) Depugh, Jacklynn S. Peters, and Jody K. (Bill) Wedebrook. Preceding Jay with souls eternal are his parents, Jack and June (Mallow) Woods; his grandparents, George and Rosa (Kuhn) Woods, and Jack and Dorothy (Mallow) Chenault; his brothers, William E. Woods, and Col. Jon P. Woods, USAF Ret.; as well as many aunts, uncles, and friends. Jay's family includes a dearly loved son, Adam Peters, his wife Latisha, and their wonderful children, Kylee, Zander, Ryddik, and River. He is step-father to his loving children, Justin, Brett, and Delvin Stewart, and will forever have an eternal love for his special great-niece, Summer. Jay grew up in the newly developed Chillicothe Manor and graduated from Chillicothe High School, Class of 1977. It was a great place to grow up, watching the development of the north end. It was a promising area for a young person, and offered plenty of adventure. Some of his favorite adventures were sneaking over to the Holiday Inn pool in the summer, and it sometimes seemed like half of the kids in the neighborhood had the same idea. Cruising all of the shops at the malls on bikes and making sure to test all of the new restaurant foods were also high on his list. He was even known to go fishing and camping out at the Scioto River, and was a must do many times during the year. He excelled at baseball, playing for the River Oil team. He accumulated many trophies along with his teammates, mostly from the manor. He grew up a sportsman and took naturally to field and wood. There he honed his skills as a hunter; Jay would excel in anything that captured his interest. As a teenager, he found the high dive a challenge, and would practice to perfection without fear. He would also decide to take up bowling and has (5) 299 games. Jay acquired a grand collection of skills during his 58 years. He never met a stranger and was eager to help anyone in need. He was naturally cheerful in all weather and a positive force of humanity. Jay's courageous 3 month battle with the scourge of cancer was shortened by the side effects of radiation; causing him to lose his appetite and preventing him from keeping down food. True to Jay's courage and wonderful humanity, he donated his body to the Ohio State University, Division of Anatomy and Body Donor Program. This spring during natures grand renewal, the family will host a celebration of Jay's life of courage, humanity, and selflessness at the Chillicothe Manor Park, where all will be welcome.
