Kent Gumm aka "JJ" Kent, 77, of Chillicothe, died 6:32 am, November 8, 2016, at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born January 27, 1939 in Ross Co. to the late James T. and C. Edna Jenkins Gumm. Survivors include four grandchildren, Andrea (Lucas Rowland) Hollis, Adam (Bridget Kay) Routte, and Aaron (Michelle) Routte, all of Chillicothe and Amy (Brandon) Carroll, of Jackson; eight great-grandchildren, Klayton, Mason, Dalton, Jax, Joel, Corbin, Carly and Isabella; two brothers, Gary and John (Vicki) Gumm, both of Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews; and many friends, including close friends, Tom Patrick and John Waugh. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jane Routte and Cynthia Gumm; and a brother, Greg Gumm. "JJ" retired from the US Postal service and was a veteran of the US Marine Corp. He was a musician and enjoyed fishing and writing songs. He was a member of the American Legion Post 62. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will be held 12:00 pm Wednesday in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
