Kay Spires

Kay Spires, 63, of Circleville, died peacefully in her home at 10:15am on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, following an extended battle with cancer. She was born October 18, 1950, in Chillicothe, to John and Patricia R. (Dearth) Wollenburg. On April 27, 1983, she married Jeffrey T. Spires, who survives. Also surviving is her children: Ashlee Park (Kurt) Engel, Circleville; Aaron Spires, Chillicothe; Adrian (Susan) Spires, Zanesville; and Matthew Park, Columbus; grandchildren: Gracie Engel, Anderson Spires and Griffin Spires; her mother Patricia McRoberts, Chillicothe; brothers and sisters-in-law David (Eileen) Wollenburg, Mooresville, NC; Ric (Janna) McRoberts, Washington C.H.; sister and brother-in-law Amy (Tony) Strausbaugh, Chillicothe; her father-in-law Richard Spires, Circleville; sisters-in-law Elizabeth Bell Spires, Baltimore, MD; and Ann Spires (Jeff Kurth), Sierra Madre, CA; and nieces and nephews: Jacob Sheets, Shane (Miranda) Sheets, Paige McRoberts, Jaycie McRoberts, Kimberly Strausbaugh and Celia Bell. She was predeceased by her father John Wollenburg; her step-father Charles "Jack" McRoberts; her mother-in-law Sue Spires and her brother Mark McRoberts. Kay was a graduate of Unioto High School, Class of 1968. She retired in 2008 from New Page, formerly Mead Paper Co., where she worked in inventory control. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed quilting and loved dogs. She was a member of the Upper Landsdowne Golf League and the Homestead Ladies Golf League, the Good Time Quilters, the Colonel Potter Rescue Club, and the ASPCA. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be conducted at 3:00pm Sunday, February 16, at the HALLER FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Greg Elliott officiating. Friends may call from 1:30-3:00pm Sunday at Haller's. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the Chillicothe Country Club to continue sharing and fellowship.
