Kay W. Prickett, 94, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 5:17pm on April 17, 2014, at Westmoreland Place following a brief illness. Kay was born August 12, 1919, in Cochran, GA, the youngest of five children born to Edward and Ella Mae (Warlick) White.
She is survived by her children: Jo Ann (Pat) Fletcher; and Robert (Susan) Chemas, all of Chillicothe; granddaughters: Amanda (Tom) DeLay, Indian Hill, NC; Andrea (Scott) Glaser, Charlotte, NC; Sarah (Stephen) Delmoe, Gettysburg, PA; and Lauren Chemas, Chillicothe; great-grandchildren: Madison DeLay, Roger Delmoe and Richard Glaser; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings: Anna, Ethel, Jim and Edward; her husband Donald E. Prickett; and a son Richard Chemas.
Kay worked in Washington D.C. during WWII then came to Ross County with the expansion of the Atomic Plant. She worked as an office manager for auto dealerships. Following her retirement, she remained active in politics and worked for the Board of Elections until 1993. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. Kay enjoyed traveling whenever she could. She also enjoyed the company of friends and family. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Accent Care and Westmoreland Place for the care provided to their mother.
Funeral services will be held at 5:30pm Monday, April 21, at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. William Hahn officiating. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 3:30-5:30pm at Haller Funeral Home.
