Katie L. Buskirk On June 29, 2005, Katie Lynn Buskirk embarked on a new journey, a journey she once described as the beginning of a new adventure for her and hopefully a celebration of her life by family and friends. Katie was 20 years old, born February 11, 1985 to Mark and Robin Buskirk. She graduated from Paint Valley High School in 2003, was a member of the Marching Paint Valley Bearcats, President of her senior class, and Student Council. She was majoring in criminal justice at Ohio University-Athens, completing her sophomore year in the spring of 2005. Her biggest joy was her many wonderful friends who loved her. Katie always said her biggest accomplishment was being a member of the Marching 110 with Ohio University. Katie was also a member of the University Band, playing tenor saxophone, piano, clarinet, and sousaphone. She was a 10 year member of the 4-H community, which she won Grand Champion Cavy (Guinea Pig) at the Ross Co. Fair. She always replied whenever anyone asked about winning that category, "You can't eat them, and you always have to take them back home with you when the fair is over, so that makes it even more special." Katie will be missed, but never forgotten by her brother and sister-in-law, Bradley and Mindy Buskirk, of Chillicothe; grandparents Butch and Katie Haubeil, of Chillicothe, and Marjorie Lowery, of Glendale, AZ. She has many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will remember her always in their thoughts. She will be joined on her journey by her grandfathers, Lawrence H. Lowery, Jr., and Leonard C. Buskirk. Friends may call 5-8 pm Friday in the Haller Funeral Home. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Katie's legacy will live on with her "Gift of Life" through organ and tissue donation.
