Katie Ilene Waldron Adams, 96, of Waverly, died Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Westmoreland Place Nursing Home. She was born May 26, 1921 in Vinton Co. to the late Calvin and Ella Scott Waldron. On January 14, 1952 she married William Adams, who died January 11, 1993. Survivors include her daughter and loving son-in-law, Sheila and Jim Sexton, of Waverly; a son and loving friend of Katie's, Rick Adams and Terri Wiley, of Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Shane (Genia) Sexton, Shannon (Amy) Sexton, Matt Rayburn, and Christi Willis; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Scott (Rita) Waldron, of Chillicothe; a special life-long friend, Edna Mae Bledsoe; and a loving friend, Esther Baker. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Oney; a grandson, James Sexton; and three sisters, Edna (Tim) Sands, Duddie (Paul) Davidson, and Ruth (Marvin) Seitz. Katie worked for the fireworks plant, making ammunition during the war, and later for Mead Paper. She loved big band music, dancing, visiting with family and friends and food. She especially enjoyed her trips to the Smokey Mountains with her brother and sister-in-law, and her trips out West with Fred and Mary. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, Rev. Rick Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call 5-7 pm Wednesday at Haller's.
