Kathy Stroede

Kathy Jo-Ann Stroede, 51, of Chillicothe, formerly of Tunkhannock, PA, died February 6, 2010, at the Adena Regional Medical Center. She was born April 26, 1958 in Portsmouth, OH to Homer (Bud) and Freda May Artman Jordan. On September 11, 1981 she married Curtis W. Stroede, who survives. Also surviving are her children, Jason (Christine) Stroede, of Bellville, IL, Kenneth (Kelly Jo) Stroede, of Tumwater, WA, and Aretta (John Hildebrandt) Stroede, of Athens, PA. She was the doting grandmother of Raylynn, Branden, Briana and Madison Stroede and Steven Hildebrandt; sisters, Deborah (Dave) Garlich, of North Lima, OH, Pamela (Phil) Malensek, of Troy Township, OH and Kay (Dennis) McKenzie, of Theodore, AL; her grandmother, Vera Kalinowski, of Irvington, AL; several nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles; and cousins. She was the loyal master of Cuervo and Smokey. She was preceded in death by her brother Steven Joseph in 1975 and maternal and paternal grandparents. Kathy was a 1976 graduate of Berkshire High, Burton, OH and worked at the former Geauga Community Hospital. She served in the United States Army from 1977-1979 as a food service specialist. She was a former teller at Security Federal; and head cook at Apple Tree Terrace, Dallas, PA. Her hobbies included keeping up with Facebook; crocheting; gardening; canning; collecting teapots and bells. She enjoyed serving as a host family for exchange students from Spain and France. But her greatest joy was being Curt's wife, mother to Jason, Kenny and Aretta, being a grandmother, and adopting neighborhood kids. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Brent Rolsten and Rev. David Garlich officiating. Graveside services will be held 12:00 pm Thursday in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland, OH. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 Tuesday at Haller's.
