Kathy Maybriar

Kathy D. Maybriar, 56, died at 4:15pm June 23, 2017, surrounded by family, at her residence following an extended battle with cancer.   She was born October 31, 1960, in Chillicothe to Ronald P. and Margaret L. (Cottrill) Bethel. On August 4, 1979, she married Steven A. Maybriar, who survives. Also surviving are their children: Ryan and Kristin Maybriar, both of Chillicothe; her mother Margaret Bethel, Chillicothe; her brother Orren (Lisa) Bethel, Martinsburg, WV, and many friends. She was predeceased by her father.   Kathy was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1978. She earned her bachelor's degree in communications from Ohio University-Chillicothe. She worked in management for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, in the Office of Workforce Development, where she was a devoted mentor and public servant. She was a member of Tyler United Methodist Church, and a talented clarinetist in the Great Seal of Ohio Band. Kathy was an avid wood worker and pen maker. She lived by the quote, "Yesterday is history; tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift, that's why it's called a present."   A Celebration of her life will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Tyler United Methodist Church, Pastor Sam Mincey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
