Kasey Wen Elam, 34, of Richmond Dale, passed away late Wednesday evening, March 11, 2026 at his home.
He was born June 3, 1991 in Portsmouth, Ohio, son of Shawn Elam and Patricia Kneisley. He married Savannah (Ford) Elam, and together they had two beautiful children, Kimber and Maverick. Also surviving is his step-mother, Amy Elam; step-father, John Bechie, Jr.; siblings, Kristin (Keith Johnson) Clark, Shanna (Jacob) Rothe, and Cameron (Fiancée Madaline) Holley; step-siblings, Loriann (Issac) Kennedy, Mary Bechie, Clair (Daniel) Glenn, Carl (Ashley) Bechie, Angela Bechie, and Jordyn Weppler; two grandmothers, Sharon Elam and Wanda Kuhner; special close friends, Jake Thomas, Larry Stinson, Zach Ray, Tom King, Shawn Montgomery, and Nathan King; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, Larry Elam and Harold Kneisley, and his Aunt Nay.
Kasey was a graduate of Zane Trace High School, class of 2009. Following graduation, he went on to attend the Ohio Police Training Academy in 2012, where he gained his certification for Peace Officer. He decided to make a lifelong commitment to public service and began his career in law enforcement, serving various communities including Chillicothe, Wellston, Waverly, and most recently, Piketon. He was proud of his devotion to the public and served with Scioto Township Fire and EMS. In his free time, he loved spending time with his family, especially his children. He also enjoyed time outdoors, going fishing and mushroom hunting. He loved music, video games, and the Save a Warrior project. Kasey also was a member of the Richmond Dale Church of Christ and liked attending services when able.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor John Evans and Pastor Dennis Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, next to his beloved grandfather and Aunt Nay. Friends may join the family for visitation from 11:00am until the time of the service.
