Karlton Thomas Wheeler

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karlton Thomas Wheeler, a beloved father, brother, and friend, who left us on Tuesday, May 19th, 2026, at the age of 54. Karlton entered this world on a chilly Saturday, February 5th, 1972, in Dayton, Ohio, and spent his life spreading warmth and kindness to everyone he encountered.

Karlton was a devoted resident of Chillicothe, Ohio, where he became an integral part of the community. For the past 16 years, he served diligently as the caretaker at the Ross County Fairgrounds. Before becoming the friendly face at the fairgrounds, he spent almost 14 years as a bus driver. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he is remembered fondly by colleagues and friends alike for his selflessness and dedication.

Outside of work, Karlton cherished time with his family and reveled in the joys of fatherhood. As an "Awesome Dad," he was the proud father of three children: Branton Olson, Audrie Wheeler, and Derek Wheeler. He welcomed three daughter-in-laws into his heart and found immense joy in his role as a grandfather to three beautiful grandchildren. Karlton also shared a close bond with his siblings: one brother and two sisters, whose love and support he held dear. He also loved his dog Juju she’s was his bestfriend

Known for his love of the outdoors and his wonderful sense of humor, Karlton brought light and laughter to every occasion. He had a knack for goofing around and an uncanny ability to make others smile, traits that endeared him to everyone who knew him.

Karlton's life will be celebrated on Friday, May 29th, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Ross County Fairgrounds - Multi-Purpose Building. Family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched are invited to join in honoring his memory and sharing stories of a life lived with love, laughter, and dedication. Following the service a time of fellowship will be held. Please bring a dessert that can be shared.

As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, let us remember the legacy of kindness and joy he leaves behind, carrying forward his warmth in the days to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you bring a fond memory or story to share, continuing Karlton's tradition of bringing joy to others' lives.
